Kirigami Book by Jeff Rutzky now available!

Our good friend Jeff Rutzky recently wrapped up a book on kirigami, which is packaged in a delightful boxed kit. It’s now available at Barnes & Noble stores, as well as online at bn.com.

Jeff Rutzky: Kirigami
Kirigami: Exquisite Projects to Fold and Cut (bn.com)

We’re particularly fond of this book because it features some pieces by my wife Bekah as well a piece inspired by some of my tessellation ideas. I’ve talked about Bekah’s kirigami work previously; she has been very pleased about the opportunity to contribute to Jeff’s book.

It also features work from some of my favorite paper artists, including Paul Jackson, Chris Palmer, Christiane Bettens, Ingrid Siliakus, Fernando Sierra, Jen Stark, and many more.

I think perhaps my favorite feature of the book was the quantity of art included- as motivational and inspirational examples of what is out there in the world of paper cutting. I can honestly say that it opened my eyes to some things I had never even thought possible.

Congratulations on the book release Jeff!

  1. It’s a cool book- you’re quite welcome. I thought the box for the kit was really the best part, actually… is it wrong to say that? it just looks like some sort of expensive packaging for some $300 coffee-table art book. I was impressed by it.

We’ll probably stop by a B&N location to find it on the shelves, so we can take our picture with it in the store 🙂

I got mine in the mail the other day. first one I did was Bekah’s apple. hehe I wish her Christmas tree or cherries would’ve made it on there.

I think u 2 need to put out ur own book.I follow the blog and one minute she’s on 1 type of origami, then within like 2 weeks she’s perfected another kind. LOL! smart wife you got there!

maybe…… ooooooh I dunno….. add a paypal donation spot on the page in exchange for some of the patterns we see online but not on any book? hehe
I just emailed Bekah about the christmas tree one. *crosses fingers* I reaaaaaaaaly want it. none of th eother christmas tree ones I seen out there can compare to that one.

alrighty… Im off. working on the “Tree of Life” at the moment. had to take a 15minute break due to a slip of the finger and a gash from the xacto knife.

  3. That looks cool I’ll definitely have to check that out. I don’t knwo much about kirigami although I can make a few things. I wondered whether or not to add them to my book but then I decided against it since I thought I should just focus on origami for beginners and just flowers. Kirigami definitely looks like something I could get into more though.
