Spread Hexagon Tessellation

All right- here’s my second attempt at diagramming, hopefully it’s improved from the first. I’d like to thank everyone for the kind words of support.

The crease pattern is relatively straightforward, although it’s a little different than “normal” crease patterns. I think there were too many creases to try and use the old style of dots / dots-and-dashes combination.

This was my first hexagonal fold, so it’s kind of special to me. It’s quite easy to fold a lot of the little hexagons once you get going.

When I fold this item I use a square piece of paper, hexagon.jpg although for the crease pattern I have it as a hexagon. It’s a bit easier to learn that way, I think. It works just fine using square paper- follow the instructions on the last page to learn how to fold a full pre-crease pattern.

A huge thank you goes out to Alida Saxon for giving me a bit of a clue as to how to use Adobe Illustrator. Don’t mistake my chicken scratchings with her work! It’s excellent and I suggest you give it a look.
