Double Pleat Hexagon Tessellation

I just uploaded a new PDF of instructions for folding a Double Pleat Hexagon tessellation; you can download it here.

It is released under the CC Non-Commercial Attribution license, which means you can do anything you want with it, other than sell it for $$$, or go around saying it’s your own. (which hopefully you’d be nice enough to not do anyway!)

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

even though this tessellation uses the same method as the tile hexagon tessellation, I’d say that this one is better than the other since (1) it is easy to make and (2) the triangles surrounding the hexagon make the hexagons have a star kind of shape.

yes, I agree – this pattern is easy and delightful to fold. it chews up more paper in the process, since the double pleats use considerably more paper per tessellated unit, but it makes a very clean design that I’m quite fond of.

    thanks for the feedback!

there’s a more complicated version of this pattern, designed by Christiane Bettens, included in my upcoming book. (I didn’t include this pattern – it’s a design of mine, but I found out that Yoshihide Momotani has an identical model published in an earlier book, so I decided not to include it out of respect and legal safety :)

Reading through any considerations, I go along that individuals need to all undertake more care of ourself.
