came across this post on flickr with the tag “origami” (yes, I see them all- I’m addicted, what can I say?)
I thought to myself, “wow, it looks like he’s folding a tessellation”…
if you look at the picture in full size, you’ll see he’s folding a Fujimoto (tower?) tessellation- you know, that amazingly popular one that everyone seems to fold.
the amazing bit is the fact that his pleats are TINY. it’s crazy. I would love to talk to this guy about his work! and learn some of his techniques, while I’m at it.

I’ve been doing origami for nearly as long as I can remember, and tessellations since I discovered them on the internat about five years ago. I’ve been thinking about making my presence known to the online origami community, but have always demurred. It appears my friend Jenel has forced my hand.
I’ve followed and admired your work on Flickr and on your website for some time. It has been an unending source of inspiration. I have some original work that I have begun documenting digitally for the purpose of sharing. I would be very pleased to show it to you. I think you might find it very interesting.
By the way, that was a Fulimoto tessellation (stacked squares, I think I got seven or eight levels out of that piece of paper). I commend your keen eye. And as for those teeny-tiny pleats: you can see in my right hand a little bamboo skewer. It is invaluable for getting into those tiny corners. Beyond that: how do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice!

I most definitely would like to see some of your tessellation work- 5 years worth of tessellation folding would certainly make for an amazing show!
For whatever reason, I’ve never thought to use a tool to shape the smaller folds- but that would work particularly well. I don’t know why I never thought to do that before. I’ll give it a try soon!
